Deadlines for the Donnie Arthur Memorial
turfgrass scholarship, as well as the "Legacy" scholarship are
October 15th. Some children of Regular Members of the Alabama
GCSAA are eligible for the Legacy Scholarship. Attached is a list
of Legacy Scholarship Guidelines as well as an application in the event
that you know someone who qualifies. Below are the criteria for
applying for the Legacy Scholarship. (Please get your application
in prior to the deadline in order to be considered.)

Golf Course Superintendents Association Scholarship
Program
The goal of the Alabama Golf Course Superintendents
Associations Scholarship Program is to support future golf course
superintendents in their educational needs.
The Alabama Golf Course Superintendents Association is committed to
awarding two thousand dollars annually to this purpose. The Association
will award a quantity of two one thousand dollars scholarships annually at
its Annual Meeting in November.
The Association’s check will be awarded directly to the student.
If there are no eligible applicants, the Association reserves the
right to designate the scholarship funds accordingly.
Scholarships are to
be awarded only to full time students (i.e. 12 credit hours per semester).
Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in an agricultural major
emphasizing turfgrass management.
Minimum grade point average of 2.0 will be required. Application
deadline is October 15th
of the year.
Marketing of the program is to occur through turf management
advisors at universities and the Golf Course Superintendents Association
of America.
Applications may also be obtained through the ASGCA executive
secretary. The
Scholarship Chairman is to recommend those candidates he feels worthy of
the award to the board for final approval. Guidelines
